Index: First Readers Series

Looking for some new and original stories for your budding reader? The First Readers Series of My Own Books are just right! Each book features your child as the hero of a story about everyday life. Each page of the story contains one or two lines of print with an illustration.

Read the books to your child! Read the books with your child! Encourage your students to read the books themselves! Books can be read online or printed into booklets. The books have a musical background that can be enjoyed while viewing or printing the story.

Go To The Zoo	The reader visits the zoo and sees many animals.
Get a Dog	The reader goes to a farm to select a pet dog.
Go To The Playground	Choose a friend to go to the playground with the reader one summer morning.
Volunteer at the Children's Hospital	The reader volunteers for the Children's Hospital and takes some books to read to the children in their beds.
Get a Kitten	The reader goes to a farm to select a pet kitten.
Go to a Nature Museum	The reader goes to a nature museum to see stuffed animals that hunt for their food.
Go To The Library	The reader goes to the library to find books about dragons.
Shop At The Farmers Market	Choose the season of the year when reader goes to the farmers market to buy fruits and vegetables.
Go To The Doctor	The reader goes to the doctor for a check-up.
Go Christmas Shopping	The reader goes shopping to pick a gift for Grandma.
Go On A Picnic	Choose a friend to go on a picnic in the park with the reader.
Go To The Dentist	The reader goes to the dentist for a check-up.

NOTE: The author of these stories is Anne Louise Pemberton, a retired Special Education teacher. As a teacher, Mrs. Pemberton frequently used personalized materials with her students. The First Readers Series was developed to meet the needs of the youngest readers, including Mrs. Pemberton's precocious great-niece, Libby. Libby returned the favor by writing the story "Go Christmas Shopping" from her own experience during her Kindergarten year.
