Number Bingo

Numeral and Number Word Bingo Game

A sure way to light up your students faces into smiles, is to announce that a Bingo game is the next activity. To help your students learn to recognize the numerals from zero to twenty, you can roll out a stack of Number Bingo cards. Print out a variety of Bingo cards with random numbers from the Number Bingo spreadsheet (http://www.educationalsynthesis.org/math/excel/NumberBingo.xls) When you open the file, click on bottom tab for the Number Bingo games, type in the number of copies you want in space B1. Then follow the directions to print them out.

Pass out the Bingo cards to the students. Allow students to work more than one card at a time. You can use anything small as markers: small pieces of paper, dry macaroni or corns, or anything else. Pass out plenty of markers to the students.

Make a list numbers in random order to call them and check back when someone calls "Bingo" for having the numbers across, down or diagnally on their card.

You can also use the Number Bingo spreadsheet to print out Bingo cards with the number words on them in random orders. This is a good way to help children learn to recognize the words for each of the numbers zero to twenty. Choose the Number Word tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet, enter the quantity in space B1, and print out a generous supply of the cards.

It is fun for the kids if you list the names of winners on the blackboard in the class, and to note if anyone wins more often than the rest. A small prize is always nice.
