Continent Database

Create a database of the basic information on each continent of the world. Use an atlas on an online search engine to find the information for your database.

Set up a database in Excel (or any spreadsheet or database program).

Step 1: Label the columns, starting with the second column, with the names of each continent.

Step 2: In the first column, label the rows, beginning with the first row as follows:

• Name of Continent
• Latitude Range (most northernly point and most southernly point)
• Longitude Range (most eastern point and most western point)
• Hemispheres (name all the hemispheres, north, south, east and west in which some part of the continent lies)
• Land Area (total square miles or kilometers)
• Water Area (total square miles or kilometers)
• Total Population
• Climates
• Terrain
• Highest Point on the Continent (highest mountain)
• Lowest Point on the Continent (name)
• Number of Nations
• Names of Nations

Step 3: Find and enter the data in your database. Save often.

Step 4: Put your database on a disk or print into a report.

Step 5: Turn in your work to your teacher.
