Daily Procedure

  1. Recite the Alphabet in unison. Students raise their hands when they say the letter B. Repeat 2-3 times.
  2. Sing the ABC song. Hold up the braille tile/s when they sing the letter B.
  3. Discuss the letter "B" and words that begin with it.
  4. As words are thought of, make a word card and put it on the Letter Table.
  5. Discuss new objects brought in for the "B" table.
  6. Visit the "B" table, add the new object/s and have each student name each object and word on the table.
  7. Have each student pick 1-3 words/items on the "B" table, and say a sentence using that word or item.
  8. Read the story "Find B Things". Use a different student's name each day of the week.
  9. Sing the Song of the Week.

Monday:

After daily activity above: Discuss words that begin with the letter B. Let students make or repeat sentences that use the letter B. Tell students about making the B table so they can collect and bring in "B" things by Friday.

Tuesday:

After daily activity above: Read the "B" verse of the poem Utter Nonsense. Repeat it until each student can recite it.

Wednesday:

After daily activity above: Pass out bubble jars and encourage students to make a B out of bubbles End the lesson by reciting the B verse of Utter Nonsense.

Thursday:

After daily activity above: Pass out glue pens and paper. Let students practice writing the letter B and feeling the dried glue to improve their writing. End the lesson by reciting the B verse of Utter Nonsense.

Friday:

After daily activity above: Visit the B table and let the students identify each of the B objects on the table. Let each student say or repeat a sentence using each object in a sentence. End the lesson by reciting the B verse of Utter Nonsense.
