My Own Books are just right! Each book features your child as the hero of the story. Your child will read his or her name over and over. You child will read about himself or herself as the hero in the story.
Read the books to your child! Read the books with your child! Encourage your child to read the books by themselves!
Stories can be read online or printed into books. Most stories have a musical background that can be enjoyed when viewing the story.

NOTE: The author of most of these stories is Anne Pemberton, a retired Special Education teacher. As a teacher, Mrs. Pemberton frequently used personalized materials with her students. When her sister needed motivational reading materials for her severely autistic son, Mrs. Pemberton created her first personalized book, The American Flag. Andrew was delighted!
With the encouragement of family, friends, other professionals, and the Enabling Support Foundation, Mrs. Pemberton developed this web site to make these personalized stories available to anyone helping children learn to read. The books include stories for beginning readers and more advanced readers. They include lessons in history, social studies, folktales, and more. Many stories begin with a magical hat to take the child on the adventure in time and space.
The site includes five stories written by the students at Mount Carmel High School and a story by Libby, a Kindergartener.
